NEW DELHI: In a significant step toward enhancing global academic engagement, Mahindra University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hiroshima University, Japan. The partnership aims to foster long-term collaboration in research, innovation, and academic exchange between the two prestigious institutions.

The MoU was officially signed on July 7, 2025, and outlines a strategic framework for joint research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, co-hosted conferences, and collaborative publications across a range of disciplines. Areas of focus will include clean energy, artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and the social sciences.

The agreement also opens up opportunities for Indian students to study at Hiroshima University and for Japanese students to gain academic exposure at Mahindra University. Faculty members from both institutions will also benefit from knowledge sharing through co-teaching and curriculum development.

Dr. Sudarshan Padmanabhan, President of Mahindra University, hailed the collaboration as a landmark in the university’s global outreach efforts. “This partnership reflects our commitment to academic excellence and cross-cultural learning. Together, we aim to drive innovation that serves humanity,” he said.

Echoing the sentiment, Prof. Hiroshi Tanaka, Rector of Hiroshima University, stated, “We are excited to deepen our ties with Mahindra University. Through this collaboration, we aim to nurture globally minded researchers and create impactful solutions to shared challenges.”

The first phase of this partnership will commence in September 2025, with faculty visits, joint research, and preparatory work for a high-profile international symposium planned for November.

This MoU marks a vital step in bridging academic expertise between India and Japan and strengthening people-to-people ties through education.
