NEW DELHI: Mahindra University has announced the launch of a dedicated Economic Policy Centre, aimed at fostering research, policy innovation and industry collaboration in key areas of economic development and governance.

Speaking at the launch, D. Sridhar Babu, IT and Industries Minister of Telangana, underlined the state’s growing dominance in the Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem. He noted that Telangana, particularly Hyderabad, has emerged as a leading destination for multinational corporations setting up GCCs, driven by strong infrastructure, skilled talent and proactive government policies.

The newly established centre at Mahindra University is expected to serve as a hub for evidence-based policymaking, bringing together academia, industry leaders and government stakeholders. It will focus on critical sectors such as digital economy, trade, public finance and emerging technologies.

Highlighting Telangana’s rapid growth trajectory, the minister said the state has successfully positioned itself as a preferred investment destination, with Hyderabad becoming a key global hub for technology and innovation. He added that the government remains committed to strengthening the ecosystem further through policy support and industry partnerships.

University officials said the Economic Policy Centre will also play a key role in training future policymakers and researchers, while contributing to national and global economic discourse through high-impact research and policy recommendations.

The initiative is expected to enhance collaboration between academia and government, reinforcing Telangana’s position as a major contributor to India’s evolving economic and technological landscape.
