NEW DELHI: Cross-border education payments platform 8B has partnered with digital financial services provider PayU to enable Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and other popular Indian payment methods for students and institutions in Central Asia.

The collaboration aims to simplify international tuition payments for Indian students studying in countries across the region by allowing them to pay using familiar and widely adopted methods such as UPI, net banking and local digital wallets.

Through this integration, 8B will leverage PayU’s payment infrastructure to offer a seamless, secure and cost-effective payment experience, reducing reliance on traditional cross-border transfer systems that are often time-consuming and expensive.

The move is expected to significantly ease financial transactions for Indian students pursuing higher education abroad, while also helping universities in Central Asia attract a larger pool of applicants from India by offering convenient payment solutions.

Industry experts believe the partnership marks a key step in expanding India’s digital payment ecosystem globally, particularly UPI, which has been gaining traction as a preferred low-cost and real-time payment system.

The initiative also reflects the growing collaboration between fintech platforms and education service providers to address long-standing challenges in international student payments.
