NEW DELHI: At least seven Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to local health authorities, as tensions in the region continue to escalate amid ongoing military operations and humanitarian concerns.
Medical sources in Gaza reported that the casualties occurred following multiple airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting different areas, including residential neighbourhoods and locations near central and southern parts of the enclave. Several others were reportedly injured, with some in critical condition, as emergency teams rushed victims to nearby hospitals already under severe strain due to shortages of medical supplies and fuel.
The Israeli military said its operations were aimed at militant infrastructure and security threats, reiterating that it continues to act against armed groups it accuses of launching attacks and posing risks to Israeli civilians and forces. However, Palestinian officials and humanitarian organisations expressed concern over the rising civilian toll and the impact on densely populated areas.
The latest strikes come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts by regional and international mediators to push for de-escalation and humanitarian access, including the delivery of food, medical aid and essential services to civilians affected by months of conflict. Aid agencies warned that repeated attacks and continued displacement have worsened living conditions for thousands of families across Gaza.
