Iran military slams Trump over peace plan, dismisses negotiation claims
description

NEW DELHI: Iran’s military has strongly rejected claims by Donald Trump that negotiations are underway to end the ongoing conflict, sharply criticising the proposed US peace plan and dismissing it as unrealistic and misleading.

A senior Iranian military spokesperson mocked Washington’s stance, stating that the US is effectively “negotiating with itself,” and made it clear that Tehran has no intention of entering talks under current conditions. The remarks come amid reports that the US had floated a 15-point proposal aimed at ending hostilities, including demands related to Iran’s nuclear programme and regional activities.

Iran has categorically denied any direct or indirect negotiations with the US, calling such claims “fake” and accusing Washington of attempting to manipulate global markets and create a perception of diplomatic progress while continuing military pressure.

The proposed US plan reportedly includes provisions such as a temporary ceasefire, curbs on Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes, and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Tehran views these conditions as one-sided and unacceptable, reiterating that it will not engage in talks while under attack.

The strong rejection comes even as tensions continue to escalate in the region, with ongoing military strikes and retaliatory actions involving Iran, the US, and its allies. Despite Washington signalling openness to diplomacy, Iran has maintained that any meaningful dialogue would require an end to hostilities and guarantees around its sovereignty and security interests.

The latest exchange highlights a widening gap between the two sides, with diplomacy appearing increasingly fragile even as global pressure mounts for de-escalation in the conflict.
