NEW DELHI: Russia has firmly ruled out any possibility of negotiating the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine, declaring the idea “fundamentally unacceptable.”
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made the remarks on Thursday during the Eastern Economic Forum. She stressed that Moscow would not consider or discuss such proposals in “any format.”
The statement comes amid rising concerns over Western military support for Kyiv and renewed debates within NATO and the European Union about strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Russia continues to insist that any presence of foreign forces in Ukraine would be treated as a direct threat to its national security. Meanwhile, Ukraine has maintained its calls for expanded international assistance to counter Moscow’s ongoing offensive.
